Q. Do you employ salaried translators?
We use freelance translators on a project–by–project basis, which is standard practice in the translation field. This allows us to save on overhead, a benefit that is ultimately passed on to you, the client.
Q. How do you determine the cost of a translation project?The cost of a translation is based on three components–the type of material to be translated; the source and target languages; the quantity of material and the client's schedule. For example, a 20–page technical text to be translated from Russian to English with a two–day deadline will cost more than a 10–page general text to be translated from English to Hebrew with a seven–day deadline.
Q. How do you define one page of translation?The number of words in a document directly affects the scope of the translation, as well as its cost. We have defined a standard page of translation as containing 250 words in the target language. (In certain languages a page of translation is defined as containing 1,500 characters.) This provides us with a uniform method for determining the quantity of translation.
Q. How many pages of translation are in the operation manual I want to translate?If your document was written on a word processor such as Microsoft Word (as are most documents these days) you should do the following:
- Open the document.
- Select Tools followed by Word Count.
- Divide the number of words by 250. This will give you an estimate of the number of pages of translation.
Q. Can you provide me with a translated document that will look the same as the original?We can supply translated documents in a variety of formats, according to the client's requirements. Obviously a "Ready to Print" document requires far more time, effort, and formatting than a simple text. Sometimes, we are able to utilize formatting features from the original document thereby reducing the amount of work required. This savings is then reflected in the final amount the client will pay for the translation.
